Appointing a Head of Strategy for a Leading Consumer Business

Client: A leading consumer product business headquartered in Hong Kong
Locations: Paris & London
Key Stakeholders: EMEA Managing Director & Global CEO

The Challenge

Our client, a global leader in consumer products, faced a critical need to appoint a Head of Strategy to spearhead their growth in Europe. With offices in Paris and London, they required someone with deep strategic expertise, particularly in aligning global and regional business strategies. This individual would be crucial in navigating the complexities of both Western European markets and the broader global landscape.

Given the seniority of the role, the client sought candidates with a proven track record in top-tier consulting and experience working within high-growth, dynamic environments. Cultural alignment with the brand’s high-end clientele was also a key consideration, making the search especially nuanced.

Our Approach

Working closely with the EMEA MD and the CEO, we launched an extensive search, targeting over 100 ex-management consultants. The candidates needed to possess not only the strategic insights but also the ability to operate in complex, cross-cultural environments.

We leveraged our network to identify candidates from leading consulting firms, with a strong focus on those who had transitioned into industry roles. This process involved significant research and assessment of the cultural implications, especially given the client’s high-profile status and demanding European customer base.

The Result

After a thorough search and several rounds of interviews, we successfully pulled a former Accenture Strategy Manager from a leading brand. Their strategic background, combined with their ability to work across borders and understand high-end client groups, made them the perfect fit.

The candidate quickly integrated into the organisation, driving forward key strategic initiatives that aligned the company’s European growth plans with their global objectives.
