They were created by the May 2015 merger of Springer Science+Business Media and Holtzbrinck Publishing Group’s Nature Publishing Group, Palgrave Macmillan, and Macmillan Education.
Springer had gone through a significant merger, as part of this they were undertaking some change work within their Shared Services function. They needed a solution to an issue they were having with some of their legacy systems.
Their PSL couldn’t respond to the niche requirement and they were wasting time of the project due to a lack of resource.
